HERMISTON — The city of Hermiston’s survey about the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center still has three weeks to go, but nearly 300 respondents have already voiced their opinion.
The city, which took full ownership of EOTEC last year, will implement the results as it develops a long-term strategic plan for the venue.
Those who have responded so far have said they support more year-round events at the venue, which is the home of the Umatilla County Fair and Farm-City Pro Rodeo each August. More than 85 percent of respondents have said they would like to see more concerts at EOTEC and more than 75 percent called for more food festivals, according to a news release from the city.
The survey can be accessed at www.eotecsurvey.com, and survey participants are entered to win a $50 Visa gift card or family passes to the Hermiston Family Aquatic Center.
According the city, the EOTEC Advisory Committee will also interview community leaders and focus groups and hold a community open house this fall as they gather feedback on what the future of EOTEC should look like.
