BOARDMAN - Police arrested a suspect in an auto theft ring Thursday and also recovered four more stolen vehicles at residences about 10 miles south of town.

So far, nine stolen automobiles - eight of them pickups - have been recovered in the investigation, according to Oregon State Police.

Pablo Ramos Roque, 35, of Boardman, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of stolen property. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail.

Search warrants were served at 65391 Shangrila Loop and 64800 Taggares Lane in rural Morrow County Thursday, and three stolen pickups and one car were recovered.

Last week, OSP recovered five stolen pickups. While searching the residences, numerous dead and dying livestock were discovered at one location, according to a state police press release.

"Evidence of possible animal abuse involving the methods used to kill the livestock was discovered," the press release said.

That evidence will be forwarded to the Morrow County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.
