HERMISTON — The League of Women Voters of West Umatilla County will host Bob Vance, licensed engineer and veteran employee of URS?Corporation, to speak about coal trains at an open educational forum Thursday, May 9 in Hermiston.

Vance is involved in the closure of the Umatilla Chemical Depot, though much of his career was spent designing mines and coal handling facilities across the western United States. He is a train aficionado, and lives in Pasco.

The forum will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 232 of the Eastern Oregon Higher Education Center, 980 S.E. Columbia Drive.
