PENDLETON — A volunteer host is needed at Jubilee Lake Campground on the Umatilla National Forest, about 12 miles northeast of Tollgate.

Jubilee Lake is the largest developed campground on the forest, with 53 campsites, four picnic areas and a 2.8-mile hiking trail around the 90-acre lake.

Campground hosts are responsible for greeting visitors, providing information about the area and making campers feel at home. Hosts will also clean and maintain restrooms, restock supplies and perform minor maintenance as needed.

Individuals or couples can apply to be hosts. Those who apply will need to bring their own camper or motor home. The forest provides a campsite as well as sewer and water hookups. There is no electricity at the campground.

Though the program is volunteer-based, hosts are given a food allowance and reimbursed for propane and personal mileage. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Jeff Bloom, recreation specialist for the forest’s Walla Walla Ranger District, at 509-522-6277.
