Windy River teacher honored

BOARDMAN — The Oregon Council of Teachers of Mathematics has recognized Rhonda Boor of Windy River Elementary School for outstanding contributions to the math community in Umatilla and Morrow counties.

Boor's work includes developing curriculum resources for the Morrow County School District's kindergarten through sixth grade teachers, organizing math professional development opportunities and supporting teacher workshops on Common Core Standards into everyday teaching.

Morrow County Schools Superintendent Dirk Dirksen said Boor is a great educator and leader in the district, and someone who supports work toward improving math, reading and data-driven instruction.

OCTM is composed of teachers dedicated to keeping quality math in Oregon classrooms. The program promotes a comprehensive math education community and supports educators in implementing state and national math standards.
