PENDLETON- Two boys were cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants by police after the boys crashed their cars while speed racing down Highway 395 Monday night.
According to Oregon State Police reports, Jean Paul Nelson, 17, and Zachary James Norton, 19, both of Pendleton, were speed racing on Highway 395 when they crashed at milepost 7 at 10;48 p.m.
Nelson was driving a red 1987 Pontiac Fiero and Norton was driving a green 1992 Mazda MX3.
An investigation by OSP troopers found that Nelson and Norton were impaired by marijuana.
An undisclosed amount of marijuana and bottle rockets were found in Nelson's vehicle.
Nelson was cited and released on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) for marijuana, reckless driving, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of unlawful fireworks. Norton was cited and released for reckless driving and DUII for marijuana.
Neither boy was injured in the crash.
