Salvador Valencia, 22, of the Hermiston area has been identified as the victim of a Monday afternoon shooting at the Gotta Stop Mini Mart, 1580 W. Highland Ave.

Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said an autopsy will be conducted later this afternoon in Portland.

“There are still a few people who our detectives would like to speak with,” Primus said. “We’re still trying to identify a couple of individuals that were there at the incident.”

Emergency crews received the call at 3:42 p.m. on Monday. Valencia was dead when crews arrived.

Primus said if anyone witnessed the incident or has any indication as to others who were present, contact the Umatilla County dispatch or the Hermiston Police Department dispatch with the information so they may speak with detectives.
