JOHN DAY - John Day Unit Forester Angie Johnson is taking a new position with the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Her last day in the John Day job, which she has held for four years, will be May 10.

Johnson is taking a position in ODF's Private Forests Program, based in Salem.

George Ponte, Central Oregon District forester, called the John Day job one of the "most challenging and rewarding positions of its type" in ODF, and said she will be missed.

Ponte said Brian Reel, currently assistant unit forester in ODF's Fossil office, will fill the John Day job on an interim basis after Johnson's departure.

The agency has begun recruiting for the job, hoping to fill the position by the end of June.
