WALLA WALLA — Betty J. Lyon, 79, of Pilot Rock died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, in a Walla Walla care facility. Graveside funeral services will begin Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Pilot Rock Cemetery.  A potluck luncheon will be served following the service at the Pilot Rock Community Center. 

Mrs. Lyon was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Spokane, Wash., to Karl and Lena (Tiede) Fritz. She lived in Idaho until the age of 12, when she came to the Pilot Rock area. She attended schools in Pilot Rock. 

She married Dale R. Lyon in 1949 in Enterprise. The family lived in Enterprise, Long Creek, John Day and Baker City before they returned to Pilot Rock in 1954. She was a homemaker. 

Mrs. Lyon is survived by children Karl Lyon and Linda Carter, both of Pilot Rock, Cindy Goodman of Dallesport, Wash., and Brenda Neil of Beaverton; brother James Fritz of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Dale.
