WOODBURN David Michael Dougherty, 66, of Woodburn died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 and Friday, Nov. 19 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at Belle Passi Cemetery in Woodburn. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hoodview Church of God, 1530 Mount Hood Ave., Woodburn.
Pastor Dougherty was born March 31, 1944, in Portland to James and Doris Johnson-Dougherty. He grew up and attended school in Pendleton. He earned a bachelors degree from Warner Pacific College and his Master of Divinity from Western Evangelical Seminary. He attended Fuller Theological Seminary in doctorate studies.
He married Peggy Sue Thompson in Portland in 1967. They made their home in Portland, where he served as pastor at the Rockwood Church of God from 1972-78. He then pastored at the Edmonds Church of God in Edmonds, Wash., for 12 years and finally moved to Woodburn, where he served as pastor of the Hoodview Church of God for the last 20 years, retiring this spring.
Pastor Dougherty is survived by his wife Peggy at the home; daughters Susan Dougherty of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sally Dougherty of Eugene; brothers Pastor Douglas Dougherty of Springfield, Daniel Dougherty of Caldwell, Idaho, and Pastor Thomas Dougherty of Boise, Idaho; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoodview Church of God College Scholarship Fund in care of the church.
