FOSSIL Denzil O. White, 88, of Fossil died Friday, May 20, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Fossil United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Fossil. A reception and meal will follow.
Mr. White was born Nov. 2, 1922, at Smith Center, Kansas, to Harley and Dollie Lamb White. He was raised and attended school in Kansas before moving to Estacada. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On Dec. 23, 1944, he was honorably discharged from the military and returned to Oregon to begin a lifelong career in the logging industry.
On May 20, 1940, he married Frances J. Ahnert at Estacada. The couple moved to Eastern Oregon as the Kinzua Lumber Mill was in full swing at that time. They raised their four children in Wheeler County. Frances preceded him in death in August 1987.
He married R. June White in June 1989 at Fossil. With this union, he became stepfather to her three children.
Mr. White is survived by daughters Dixie E. Hollomon of Hermiston, Terry D. Todd of Fossil and Susan G. Long of Terrebonne; son Denzil R. White of Rainier,?Wash.; stepdaughter Shauna Roach of Helena, Mont.; stepsons Bob Zeemin of Tacoma, Wash., and Gary Zeemin of Albany; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, R. June White.
Memorial contributions can be made to the donors favorite charity.
