Dorthy 'Dee Dee' Delamarter

Dorthy 'Dee Dee' Delamarter

Dorthy Delamarter was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 22, 1923. She was the first child of Harold and Vernie Hazzard. She moved into eternity April 8, 2014, in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Her father was a circuit riding pastor, often pastoring three churches at one time throughout her childhood, exposing her to the music of traditional hymns and the piano. This began her lifelong love of playing piano, creating new chords and perfecting her signature chord progressions. Her musical ear was so unique she would often state as she played or listened to music, “That chord is so beautiful it makes me weep.”
