Fernando Javier Castaneda Jr. was born January 13, 1992, at Los Angeles, California, to parents Fernando Javier and Guadalupe (Banuelos) Castaneda Sr. He died Thursday, September 3, 2015, the result of an automobile accident in Boardman, Oregon, at the age of 23.

He was raised in Los Angeles until age 10 when the family moved to Boardman. Fernando graduated from Riverside High School in Boardman in 2010. He worked at Con-Agra Foods for two years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Boardman. Fernando enjoyed fishing, shooting, and sports including wrestling, football, track & soccer.

He is survived by parents, Fernando Sr. and Guadalupe Castaneda of Boardman, Ore.; grandmothers Delia Avalos of Mexico and Alicia Salazar of California; and sisters Janet and Judit Castaneda, both of Boardman, Ore.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015, at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Boardman. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Boardman. There will be visitation on Sunday, September 6, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel in Hermiston.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, P.O. Box 289, Hermiston, OR 97838 to help with expenses.
