Fred Christopher Watters

Fred was born December 29th, 1971, in Coos Bay, Oregon. He died June 29th, 2012, at his home in North Bend, Oregon. He attended school in Charleston and Coos Bay. Fred graduated from Pendleton High School in 1990. He worked at the Star of Hope.

Sports were an especially important part of Fred’s life. The Special Olympics provided an opportunity to participate in bowling and softball. The Portland Trail Blazers had a true fan in Fred. He avidly watched their games on television and was able to attend games from time to time. Collecting basketball cards was his number one hobby.

Fred loved to listen to country music, going to concerts every chance he got. He enjoyed going places with friends and family. Even though Fred had many challenges come his way, he always kept a positive outlook on life.

Fred is survived by his parents, Barbara and Jerry Lauer; father Fred D. Watters of Salinas, Calif.; grandmother Margaret Kittrell; sisters Becky (Watters) Lauer and Megan Lauer; brother Justin Lauer; nephew Gary Hickam; aunts and uncles Elizabeth and Jim Hankins, David and Connie Kittrell; cousins Barbara Braun, Michael Hankins, Jon Kittrell, and Russel Kittrell.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, DeWitt Kittrell.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7th at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4th and Highland, in Coos Bay. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
