Jean Marie Evans passed away quietly on July 13, of natural causes at the age of 92. She was born June 13, 1920, to Sydney and Susan (Clark) Branscom in Kelso, Washington. She graduated from Kelso High School. Jean married Arthur Evans in Longview, Washington. The Evanses, with Arthurs parents, Eula and Charles, owned and operated Ecco Frozen Foods in Longview until 1948. Jean and Arthur moved to Pendleton, Oregon, in 1953 where they owned several businesses including Pendleton Appliance Service and The Vintage Shoppe and later owned commercial buildings in downtown Pendleton. Jean and Arthur made Pendleton their home for the rest of their lives.
Jean was devoted to her children and grandchildren. They traveled from their homes around the country to visit her in her Pendleton home. She was a dedicated flower gardener, spending time every week nurturing them, as she did her children and all those she loved and who loved her.
Jean was predeceased by her brother, David, and is survived by a brother, Hal Branscom, of Castle Rock, Wash., and her six children: Dr. Jerome (Shelley) Evans of Carbondale, Colo., Vickie (James) Keating of Boise, Idaho, Lynn (Carol) Evans of Portland, Ore., Barbara (Randall) Blackford of Charlotte, N.C., Pamela Bond of Vernonia, Ore., Kelley (David) Bruley of Portland, Ore., 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Her remembrance service will be held by the family at later date.
