Judy F. Smiley, 69, passed away December 14, 2015, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center, Walla Walla, Wash. A celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 The Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362. Korey Pollard, Judy’s nephew, will officiate.
Judy was born on October 11, 1946, in Holton, Kansas, to Leon and Alta (Wright) Amon. She attended schools in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and was a 1964 graduate of Mac-Hi.
On August 20, 1966, she married Jack L. Smiley in Milton-Freewater. Through the years Judy enjoyed the opportunities she had in the different communities that they were brought to through Jack’s career as a school teacher. They were in Davenport, Wash., Pendleton, Ore., and Hermiston, Ore. While in Hermiston, Judy was actively involved in the community. She owned her own bookkeeping and accounting business and Slender You Fitness. She volunteered with the Booster Club and concession stands. Jack and Judy returned to Walla Walla in 1990.
Judy worked at various jobs throughout the valley for many years. She enjoyed being in sales, meeting people and making many new friends. Judy was an avid supporter of sports with her husband, children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were active in 4-H and FFA and Judy continued to stay involved. A very giving and helpful person, she was always taking people in and helping them out.
Judy is survived by her mother Alta Amon; two loving children, Julie Doty and her husband Zach, and Jeff Smiley; one sister, Melody Pollard; two brothers, Dan Amon and Scott Amon; three wonderful grandkids, Austin Leber, Hayden Leber and Brooke Smiley; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, husband Jack on May 1, 2012, and longtime family friend Albert Saxton.
