Linda Diane Cummings

Heaven gained an angel today!

The memorial for Linda Diane Cummings will be held at the Weston Memorial Hall on Main Street Saturday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m. A potluck will follow downstairs after the services.

Linda, 66, of Weston passed away the morning of July 30th at her home.

One of six children, five girls and a boy, she was born on May 19, 1948, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington. She attended school in Weston, graduating in 1966 from Weston High School.

Linda married Walt Clark Jr. in 1965 and had two children, Ron and Lisa. She later married Dennis Cummings on December 6, 1974, in Reno, Nevada, and welcomed three more sons to the family — David, Christopher and Glen. They were married for 39 years.

Linda grew up on both Weston Mountain and in town and had a passion for both horses and cats. She loved the outdoors to include hunting, mushrooming, clam digging and the ocean. She treasured spending time with her siblings, children, and her grandchildren. When she saw them, nothing else compared to the joy she felt. She worked hard through the years — driving truck in the fields, working at Lamb-Weston, eventually working for Sleepy Glen’s 76 Station and Herds Mini Mart.

In 1999 Linda started a rocky journey with cancer. Many called her a “WARRIOR” as she defied the odds as the years went on. Cancer kept finding its way back, but she had a sincere, beautiful grace and smile to the very end for every single person who crossed her path. Some of her favorite moments were spent with her Cancer Support Group, who met once a month in her home. This group, whether living or having passed, were always tight-knit and there for each other while fighting the good fight.

To sum up her life, “Family” says it all. She adored her siblings, children, and grandchildren and loved them to unimaginable depths. She was devoted, caring, loyal, kind, loving, and strong — a true friend, a true beauty.

She is survived by her husband Dennis; children Ron Clark, Lisa and Jud Lovell, David Cummings, Christopher and Mara Cummings, Glen and Cherie Cummings; siblings Shirley Wait, Sharon Foster, Jo Ann King, Sheldon Kirk, Karen Anderson; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jean Kirk Scholarship Fund at Baker Boyer Bank in Milton-Freewater.
