WALLA WALLA Michael Paul Mike Troyer, 68, of Umapine died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. Memorial services will be Friday, May 6 at 10:55 a.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. A luncheon for family and friends will be held after the service, at 12:30 P.M., at the American Legion Post No. 24, 424 N.E. Eighth, Milton-Freewater.
Mr. Troyer was born April 9, 1943, in Walla Walla to Lafe and Dorothy Moody Troyer. He lived in Umapine, where he attended school and graduated in 1961 as valedictorian. He served in the Army from February 1964 to December 1966.
In 1968 he married Gaynel Drahos in Lakeview. He graduated from Eastern Oregon College in La Grande with a bachelors degree in general studies in 1969. He worked summers for the Forest Service. He enjoyed working outdoors during his career, including being a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier and working in the farming and agriculture community.
Mr. Troyer is survived by his wife Gay Troyer at the home; son Morgan Troyer of Westminster, Colo.; daughter Paula Johnston of Beaverton; sisters Patty Odoms of Federal Way, Wash., Frances Glenn of Boardman and Sylvia McCorkle of Maupin; half brothers Gene Andrews of Olympia, Wash., and Jim Andrews of Tacoma, Wash.; and aunts, a great-aunt, an uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces.
