Anna Jane Michieli

HERMISTON — Anna Jane Michieli, 85, of Hermiston died Monday, March 14, 2011, at her home. At her request, no public services will be held. A private family gathering will be held Thursday, April 7 at the family home in Hermiston. Disposition was by cremation.

Mrs. Michieli was born Aug. 25, 1925, at Olustee, Okla., to Ralph and Minnie Bruce. She was raised in Oklahoma, and after high school attended UCLA in California. While at UCLA she met John B. Michieli, and married him in 1946 in Hermiston. While raising four children, she attended classes both part- and full-time and finally received her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from what was then Eastern Oregon College, now known as Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande. 

For the next 23 years she taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades at West Park, Sunset and Highland Hills elementary schools in the Hermiston School District until she retired from teaching at the age of 63.

Mrs. Michieli is survived by sons Bruce Michieli of Portland, Gene Michieli of Loveland, Colo., and John Michieli of Dallas, Texas; daughter Elisa Allen of Portland; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Michieli, in 2006; parents Ralph and Minnie Bruce; and sisters Melba Bruce and Inez Campbell.
