Raymond Sallee Sr

WALLA WALLA — Raymond Eugene Sallee Sr., 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, of lung cancer complicated by stroke at Regency at the Park in Walla Walla, where he was undergoing treatment. Viewing will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 in the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. 

Mr. Sallee was born July 21, 1945, in The Dalles to Harley Addison Sallee and Mary Evelyn Fitzmorris. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1964. He attended Blue Mountain Community College, and after moving his family to Portland in 1979 he attended Multnomah School of the Bible and Portland Community College. He married Julie Hickle in 2006 in Newberg.

After 30 some years with Fred Meyer he retired from the Newberg store in July of 2010.  

Survivors include his wife Julie; children (from his first marriage) Christina Long of Portland, Melissa Campbell of Camas, Wash., and Raymond Jr. of Seaside; foster daughter Frances Gifford of Seattle; stepchildren David Hickle of Virginia and Mark Kiehn of Moses Lake, Wash.; brother Richard Lyda of Pendleton; sister Rosemary Johnson of Pendleton; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and an uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather Wallace Pound and brother James Lyda.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
