Richard (Dick) Bowman was born in Pendleton, Oregon, on September 8, 1925, to parents Kenneth and Josephine Bowman. He died November 17, 2011, in Salem, Oregon, at the age of 86 years.

Dick was a long-time resident of Pendleton. He was a fourth-generation descendant of the Oregon Trail. He worked for Purchase-Kirkpatrick ranches for over 50 years.

He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Sunnyside Road, Salem, Oregon, congregation.

Dick loved the mountains in Eastern Oregon and spent many days enjoying creation at the family’s cabin near Starkey. He was loved by friends and family for his sense of humor and good nature.

He married his wife Florence Ament on October 3, 1946, in Pennsylvania. After their wedding they came west to Pendleton and lived until his retirement, when they moved to Salem to be near family.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 2006. He is survived by daughter, Sandra Reed (Gary) of Salem, four grandchildren, Nathan Reed (Idalba), Tonya Reed, Tabitha Solberg (David), all of Keizer, and Natasha Bolivar (Neptali) of Salem, eight great-grandchildren, and brothers Lester Bowman of Portland and Ray Bowman (Mary Lea) of McMinnville.

Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Kingdom Hall, 975 Mildred Lane S.E., Salem, Oregon. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
