Ronald Fay Haverland of Umatilla, Oregon, was born on December 5, 1932, in Milton, Oregon. He died on November 22, 2013, in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 80 years.
Ron was the third of four children born to Verlin and Angie Pambrun Haverland. He was a fifth-generation Oregonian and lifelong resident. Ron graduated from McEwen High School in Athena, Oregon. He enlisted in the United States Army in December 16, 1952, and served in Korea until his honorable discharge on December 15, 1955.
Ron was united in marriage to Ina Claire Anderson on August 25, 1956, in Renton, Washington. They moved to Umatilla, Oregon, and Ron worked for the City of Umatilla, Umatilla School District and at the Umatilla Army Depot. He was a volunteer for the Umatilla Fire Department.
He is survived by his brother, Dallas Haverland and his wife Gay, Eugene, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Ina Haverland; his parents; a brother, Arthur; and sister Barbara.
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Umatilla, Oregon.
