Rose Ann Kegler, 82, of Boardman died on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her home in Boardman, Oregon, with her loved ones by her side. Rose was born Sept. 26, 1931, to parents Anna and Nick Cerkoney in Kilgore, North Dakota. She had one sister and five brothers. Her family then moved to Eugene, Oregon, where she graduated from St. Marys Academy. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She was a cheerleader and enjoyed many sports.
Rose met and hired her husband Art Kegler while she was an office manager at Montgomery Ward. They were married Sept. 20, 1952, in Eugene. Rose and Art had four children, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who were the loves of her life.
Rose enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family. She and Art moved to Boardman in 1983 where she was an owner-operator of Keglers Sentry Market until retiring in 2003. Rose was an active supporter of the Boardman community by sponsoring youth sports, and other youth activities. As a business leader she helped to shape Boardman into what it is today. Rose worked tirelessly and learned to love Eastern Oregon and all it has to offer. She will be greatly missed, not only by her family but by the community of Boardman as well.
Rose is preceded in death by three of her brothers, John, Nick and Frank Cerkoney, as well as her son Mark Kegler.
She is survived by Art, her husband of 62 years; daughter Terri and her husband Jerry Reser; sons Matt and Dean Kegler; nine grandchildren: Rachelle, Joshua, Krystal, Amy, Crystal, Heather, Mathew, Brittany, Tyson and Tanya; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Boardman Senior Center, 100 Tatone St., Boardman, Ore.
