Sandra Lee Davis Gallo, 68, of Lacey, Wash., passed away July 17, 2012, at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Wash., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sandra was born to Roy and Wanda Davis in San Francisco, Calif., on August 12, 1943. At a young age, Sandra and her family moved to Irrigon, Ore., where she grew up on a small farm. After graduating from Riverside High School in Boardman, Ore., she attended Eastern Oregon University until she married and had her two sons Keith and Kevin Gallo. Sandra was divorced and moved to Olympia, Wash., where she resided for the rest of her life.
Sandra adored her sons and was active in their school and church activities and loved being a Cub Scout den mother. Sandra was an accountant by profession but an artist at heart. She loved sewing, calligraphy, rubber stamping, scrapbooking, and creating original cards and books. Sandra enjoyed spending time with friends being creative. She belonged to the Olympia Paper Dolls art group and spent a great deal of time taking art classes of all types. Sandra generously shared her art with loved ones and her unique creations will be treasured.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Wanda L. Davis, infant daughter Mikka Gallo, and great niece Caya Davis. She is survived by her sons Keith and Kevin Gallo, sisters Barbara Gronquist (Keith), Wanda Davis, and Patricia Buwalda (Curt), as well as four nieces, two nephews, seven great-nieces, and nine great-nephews. Sandra is also survived by many dear friends in the Olympia area including her work family from the Tumwater School District where she was employed for the past 17 years.
Sandras family extends their gratitude to all of her friends for being such an important part of her life and for supporting her during her illness. Sandras family would also like to convey their appreciation to the caring staff at The Sequoia Assisted Living Community and Providence Mother Joseph Care Center for their compassion and guidance.
Graveside services will be Thursday July 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon, Ore.
