Thomas (Jim) James Keating Jr., 93, a former resident of Pendleton, Oregon, died Monday, December 19, 2016 in an adult foster home in Milwaukie, Oregon. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton, Oregon. Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com. Thomas J. Keating Jr. was born on December 6, 1923, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Thomas and Myrtle (Tyndall) Keating. He was raised in Pendleton, Oregon, where he graduated from Pendleton High School. He later attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He joined the United States Army and was in the 9th Infantry Division. He served his country during WWII. He earned the Combat Medical Badge. He was in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland.

He worked for Jones and Bartlett as an editor of medical textbooks. He married June L. Hampton who preceded him in death in 2001. The couple had four children.

He is survived by his daughter Vickie Ann Smith and husband Fred Smith of Ledgard, Conn.; sons Michael J. Keating of Portland, Ore., and Robert P. Keating and wife RaeNoel of Happy Valley, Ore.; and daughter Molly Wicher and husband Bob of Seaside, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife June L. Keating.
