Regarding the comments about the former Louisiana-Pacific/Harris Pine Property Court Place property in Pendleton:

I would like to address some of the misleading information being circulated as part of the city Measure 30-33 campaign.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has been working for several years to address soil contamination at the site with the current and past owners of the former Louisiana Pacific/Harris Pine Mill. DEQ has also coordinated with the Oregon Department of Transportation during the planning and environmental assessment of the proposed overpass project on the property.

Louisiana-Pacific performed cleanup actions at the property prior to its sale. Contaminant levels are at, or near, acceptable limits for the proposed commercial uses. Remaining environmental issues will be resolved with the current owner before the DEQ approves the cleanup of the property.
