Here in Morrow County, we are very fortunate to have the Port of Morrow as our economic development leader. Through the last decade or so, the Port of Morrow has been very successful in promoting economic expansion and family wage jobs in Morrow County. I would even go as far as to say that the Port of Morrow has ben the most successful port in the entire state of Oregon.

The average wage in Morrow County ranks fifth highest among all counties in the state, and highest in Eastern Oregon. The Port of Morrow has done this primarily without local tax dollars. In this year’s proposed budget of $25 million, the Port of Morrow collects $104,000 in property taxes.

This year, there are two long-term commissioners for the Port of Morrow up for re-election: Larry Lindsay and Marvin Padberg. Over the years these two men have donated countless hours of their time at meetings representing all Morrow County residents. Through their hard work and effort, as well as the hard work and effort of the employees of the Port of Morrow, we have a hugely successful port. They deserve by their efforts and results of their efforts to be re-elected.

I would urge all of you to join me in casting a vote to re-elect Larry Lindsay and Marvin Padberg for another four-year term. After all, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
