I would just like to express my disappointment in a vendor at the farmer’s market in Hermiston. I do not know who it was, but they were doing a pumpkin-growing contest the first day the market was open this year. My 8-year-old daughter and I attended where this vendor was doing a pumpkin growing contest. Due to very busy schedules we were not able to attend another market this year.

Anyway, my daughter planted the seeds in the little planter they gave her. They gave her instructions on how to grow the pumpkin and when to bring it back to win a prize. In two different spots in the instructions it said to bring the pumpkin back on the 29th for judging. So, we got up this morning and went down to the farmer’s market only to discover that there was none!

My daughter worked very hard and attended to her pumpkin very well. She grew a very large 58-pound pumpkin, only to be disappointed not to win a prize or at least have her pumpkin judged! Whomever was in charge of this contest should have done better! I know I had one disappointed little girl and I can only imagine if there were other parents who had disappointed children.
