It is with great pride that I write this letter of support for state Rep. Greg Smith. I have known Greg for many years and he has proven to my family and me that he is dedicated to constituents and willing to go that "extra mile" to get things done.

During the 2001 legislative session, I visited Greg several times at the Capitol. His office was always open to my ideas, thoughts and comments.

As a former tug boat captain, Greg and I strongly agree on issues surrounding our river system. He was there for us when the threat of removing the darns hovered. He was not afraid to stand up with Sen. Gordon Smith and Congressman Greg Walden to deliver the message that our dams were staying right where they were.

Greg has already proven his loyalty to senior citizens. The Oregon Health Care Association and the Oregon State Council of Senior Citizens have both named him a "Senior Champion." I know that he will continue to be our legislative guardian in Salem.

House District 57 has a great friend in Rep. Greg Smith. By sending Greg back, we'll be letting Salem know what Eastern Oregon stands for, and more importantly, what we won't stand for.
