Pendleton residents have a very important decision to make by May 18. They will decide who will be the next mayor of Pendleton. This should not be a popularity contest, but a decision based on who truly can do the best job. I have come to learn as a member of the Pendleton City Council that who we select as mayor is important.
The mayor provides a spirit, an attitude for our city. The mayor influences policies and provides leadership.
I believe the two most important skills our mayor must possess are integrity and the ability to listen.
Having worked with both of the City Council candidates for mayor - Phillip Houk and Gary Tague - and also having worked with both of them as past Pendleton Chamber presidents, I believe there is only one clear choice for our next mayor.
That choice is Gary Tague.
Gary is an excellent listener. He wants to know what you want for you and your family. He will learn by listening to you at all times. Gary will walk the streets of Pendleton daily because he has the time and desire to listen to what you want.
Also, he has absolute integrity and honesty about everything he does. His motivation to be Pendleton's mayor is solely about his desire to help Pendleton become a better place to live and work.
He has no other outside interests and distractions. He can devote all of the time necessary to do the job.
Pendleton residents, you have a wonderful history of choosing the right person as mayor. Pendleton has a history of great mayors. Please help me in continuing that tradition. Gary Tague is the one candidate I know can do the job.
