As co-chairman of the Pendleton parents/community drug and underage drinking task force, I have had the privilege this school year to work with the Pendleton school system administration and the high school, middle school and elementary principals, counselors, and staff.
These professionals are not only committed to educating our youth for the 21st century, they are also on the front line to teach and model drug and under-age alcohol prevention.
My experience working with our local administrators, principals and counselors has convinced me the most important commitment this community can make is to support the 30-50, five-year local option tax.
As a homeowner and land lord, I believe these tax revenues are the best investment we can make to assist our schools with the necessary educational programs, maintenance and instructional materials.
These professionals are working diligently, despite significantly reduced funding and personnel. As a Pendleton business owner, this operating levy is our best investment for the future of our community and the welfare of our youth.
