Pendleton Bike Week ready to rumble

Stunt rider Michael “Mad Mike” Tindall, of Titusville, Florida, rides a wheelie between the Pendleton Bike Week girls during a performance of the Xtreme Fury Stunterz last year in Pendleton. In its second year, Pendleton Bike Week is July 20-24.

Pendleton Bike Week will rumble into the Round-Up City July 20-24.

Following a successful inaugural year, Pendleton Bike Week is expanding all the events and rides that made the 2015 event so popular. Almost 6,000 motorcycle enthusiasts registered in 2015, making it the largest motorcycle rally in the Northwest.

The week begins with a tribute to Sheriff Til Taylor, Pendleton’s legendary lawman. The Til Taylor Memorial Ride begins in Salem and ends in Pendleton at the Memorial for Fallen Law Enforcement Officers in Til Taylor Park. Other activities include the .45-Caliber Poker Run, the Seattle Cossacks Precision Motorcycle Drill Team, the Rattlesnake 400 Ride, the West Coast Bikini Bike Wash Championship, a vintage and custom motorcycle show, an expanded Vendor Village at the Pendleton Convention Center and more. A new addition in 2016 is the Nitro in the Blues Hillclimb.

Pendleton Bike Week wouldn’t be complete without live music. This year’s headline act is rock legend Three Dog Night, performing Saturday, July 23 in the Happy Canyon Arena. Also appearing during the 5-day rally are ParadoX, Rob Barrett and the Coyote Kings, and others.

Pendleton Bike Week also has donated a Ford Escape SUV to the Blue Mountain Action Council to help with their veterans outreach program. The council will use the car to take local veterans to medical appointments. Sponsors for the vehicle include Oxford Suites, Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson, RideNow Powersports, Hill Meats, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Hodgen Distributing and Pendleton Bike Week.

Tickets, passes and full schedules are available online at wwwpendletonbikeweek.com. The public is welcome.
