STANFIELD - A memorial service for Alice E. Sowell will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Hermiston. Private inurnment will be later.

Mrs. Sowell, 96, of Stanfield, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.

She was born Jan. 7, 1909, at Welsh, La., to Millard and Maud Stetlzlen Fuller.

On July 2, 1926, she married William "W.L." Sowell, at Marshall, ark. They moved to Oregon in 1935, and settled at Stanfield in 1950.

Mrs. Sowell was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall.

She enjoyed flowers, especially petunias, gardening, animals, sewing, quilting, and traveling.

Survivors include her sons, Dale Sowell of Hermiston, and Ray Sowelll of Milton-Freewater; daughter, Rosie Graham of Stanfield; brother, Upton Fuller of Bingen, Wash.; sisters, Louise Thurston in Arkansas; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, W.L. Sowell, died in 1993, and sons, Harold, Doud, and Dorance, and a brother, Anson Fuller, also preceded her in death.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
