MILTON-FREEWATER - The funeral for Ben R. Free will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater with concluding services and interment at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.

Mr. Free, 56, of Milton-Freewater, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born March 23, 1946, at Walla Walla to Richard and Martha Barnes Free. He grew up at Milton-Freewater and attended local schools, then joined the Oregon National Guard, serving for six years. After his discharge in 1971, he moved to California where he worked at a Pep Boys retail store in 1974-75. In 1976, he returned to Milton-Freewater.

On Dec. 30, 1980, he married Susie Dinneen at Reno, Nev.

Mr. Free had been employed as a mechanic for Rogers Walla Walla Cannery, American Fine Foods and Chiquita Processed Foods.

He enjoyed restoring classic motorcycles and cars (especially his 1928 Ford Model A). He also enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, at the home; son, Shawn Free of Pendleton; daughters Kim Wilkinson of Walla Walla, and Michele Free at the home; sisters. Linda Hetterley of Pilot Rock, and Gloria Hetterley of Milton-Freewater; grandchildren Anthony Wilkinson and Jennifer Wilkinson, nieces and nephews.
