PENDLETON - Charley Lester Bornamann, 93, of Pendleton died May 28, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Gold Hills Pioneer Cemetery in Gold Hills.

Mr. Bornamann was born on Oct. 25, 1913, to Lea Roy and Edith Ingling Bornamann in Atkinson, Neb. After graduation, he moved to Texas and worked as a shrimp boat operator and fisherman. He also was ordained as a Nazarene minister, earning a degree in 1949.

He moved to Oregon in 1952, and received his master's degree in education from Southern Oregon College. He married Paulene Randal and they had two children.

Mr. Bornamann enjoyed fishing and fished all summer as a commercial salmon fisher all along the Oregon coast. He retired after working for the Portland school district as a math teacher for 25 years. After his wife died, he moved to Pendleton to be closer to family.

His wife, parents and brother, Ralph Bornamann, preceded Mr. Bornamann in death. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Thomas of Pendleton; his son, Roy Bornamann of Keno; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bishop Funeral Chapel in Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
