PENDLETON - A memorial service for Clara Christina McDaniel will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the home of her daughter, Aleen Rose, 72062 Westfield Blvd., in Pendleton. Private inurnment will be later.
Mrs. McDaniel, 84, of Pendleton, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Hilltop Care in Pendleton.
She was born March 7, 1921, at Rockford, Ill., to Frank Wylie and Mabel Rolina McMichael Grant. the family settled in the dust bowl of South Dakota before coming to Milton-Freewater in the late 1930s.
In 1942, she married Duane Ingram and raised two daughters on the J.D. Ingram Ranch. In 1968, she married Delvin McDaniel and lived on Birch Creek until 2004.
She loved the outdoors, working cattle and haying on the ranch.
Mrs. McDaniel had been actively involved in Job's Daughters, 4-H, and Sidesaddler's. She was elected Sidesaddler of the Year in 1994.
Survivors include, daughters, Aleen Rose and DuAnn McCarty; brothers, Clarence "Chuck" Grant and Wilbur "Bill" Grant; grandchildren, Annette Skillman, Kelly Porter, Daron Porter, and Dan McCarty; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Francis "Mike" Grant.
