BURNS - Drivers on Highway 395 north of Burns can expect reduced speeds and delays of up to 20 minutes as road crews perform a chip seal operation.

The work will take place between mileposts 50 and 67, with an expected completion date during the first week of September, according to a press release from the Oregon Department of Transportation. Drivers are advised to plan extra travel time and drive with extra caution.

"Our crews will do their best to get the work done as quickly as possible and keep the delays down to a minimum," said ODOT spokesperson Tom Strandberg. "Please be patient as ODOT crews and contractors work to keep highway sections in eastern Oregon safe and in good condition for all travelers."

The operation is one of over 30 major highway projects planned for this year in Eastern Oregon.
