The first actual steps in erecting Pendleton's city hall were taken last evening when the city hall committee of the city council, consisting of Councilmen Murphy, Mumm and Thompson held a meeting and authorized Architect Theodore F. Howard of this city to draw plans for the building.

Representing the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation at Chief Joseph Days, Joseph, July 26, 27, and 28 will be Princess Belva Hoptowit. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Hoptowit, Cayuse.

The Pendleton Garden Club has awarded "Yard of the Month" signs to the following Pendleton residents: Gladys and Bob Biggerstaff, 930 S.E. First St.; Nancy and Brent Frazier, 1104 S.W. Goodwin Ave.; Audrie and Roy Comrie, 5 N.E. Hebron Drive; and Dolores and Virgil Hendrick, 1225 S.W. 44th St.
