The coming session of the legislature should pass an adequate quarantine law for Oregon, that the state may be cleansed if its livestock diseases. It is humiliating to have Oregon classed as an infected district. Cars of Oregon sheep going out of the state are tagged "infected" and in this condition are sent out as advertisements for the state. It is time that the stockmen of the state united on some effective means of eradicating sheep scab, mange and other diseases which are now a blot upon the state. The government is willing to enforce the most rigid regulations and to do everything in its power to assist in cleansing the Oregon ranges.

Fascinating is the story of one woman's struggle in the development of the West told by Mrs. Anna May Wright in her recently published book, "In the Shadow of Black Rock." The silver-haired 71-year-old author was in Pendleton Thursday afternoon.

Tina LeGore was crowned Pendleton High School's Homecoming queen at the Pendleton-Baker basketball game Friday. Her court included Sue Heriza, maid of honor; Tami O'Reilly, senior princess; Jennie Jones, senior princess; and Kris Knoble, sophomore princess.
