July 23, 1907

It is announced by Mrs. Margaret Irvin, widow of C.W. Irvin, late proprietor of the Delta candy kitchen, that the business will be continued regularly as in the past. The establishment has now been open for business for several days and all the customers of the place are being cared for. From now on Mrs. Irvin herself will have the management and this popular place will be conducted along the same lines as during the lifetime of her husband.

Little Karen Jean Fowler, 6-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winfred James Fowler of Joseph, has been selected as queen of the sixth-annual class B East-West Shrine football game to be played in the Round-Up stadium the night of August 31. Karen, a resident of Joseph the last two years, lived in Hermiston from 1952 to 1954.

Twelve-year old Mark Moore is equally home in the swimming pool, at a canvas or playing the piano. And equally competent. Moore last weekend won seventh place overall in a swim meet in La Grande, with a fistful of firsts in his heats. July 26-Aug. 6, his scratch board picture of a fierce looking tiger will be entered in the art show of Marjorie Kennedy's students at Pendleton's U.S. National Bank.
