With beautiful weather and a crowd that was all that could be desired, the Fourth passed off in Pendleton yesterday with the success that usually attends a celebration here. From early morning until midnight, there was a continual round of pleasure, and as is always the case, much of the fun was provided by the crowd itself.

Oscar Pollard, Milton-Freewater, last night was reelected chairman of the Umatilla county chapter of the American Red Cross at the chapter's annual meeting in Pendleton.

July 4, 1982

Three all-around champions were selected at the Range Riders 4-H Horse Show June 26 in the Round-Up arena in Pendleton. Whitney Wagner, Helix, was named junior all-around champion. Noah Bondo, Hermiston, was champion in the intermediate division; and Lisa Harris, Pendleton, led the senior division. The competition was open to 4-Hers from fourth through 12th grade.
