Tualatin - Pendleton native Douglas Mark Rusher died Dec. 26, 2006, in Tualatin, after a short illness.

Visitation will be held at Burns Mortuary in Pendleton from 1-7 p.m. Friday. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Rusher was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Pendleton, to Cora Irene and Mark Dickens Rusher.

He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1962. He enjoyed playing baseball and was selected as the Little League All-State shortstop in 1955.

He attended Eastern Oregon College, graduating in 1967 with degree in biology. He moved to Gary, Ind., to work for Bethlehem Steel. He returned to Oregon and opened a metal fabrication shop in Portland.

From there, worked for J.C. Penney in Oregon City before moving to Woodburn. He then worked for Norpac/Bird's Eye Foods as a shift supervisor.

Mr. Rusher enjoyed helping his family on their farm in Wilsonville and playing with his brother's grandchildren.

He is survived by brothers Gary Rusher of Wilsonville and Jay Rusher of Milton-Freewater; two nieces; a nephew; four great-nieces; and two great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
