PENDLETON - Ernie Leroy Kopperud, 90, of Pendleton, a watchmaker and master watchmaker for 57 years, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at Patricia Cant Adult Foster Care in Pendleton.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Kopperud was born May 24, 1914, in Winnipeg Junction, Minn., the son of Oscar and Ellen Johnson Kopperud.

In 1940, he met is lifelong partner and wife of 64 years, Ada and they were married in Moorehead, Minn.

Mr. Kopperud entered the trade of watchmaking in 1945. He brought several others into the trade over the years, including his son, Gary Kopperud. He owned several watch repair shops and jewelry stores in North Dakota and Oregon, including stores in Springfield, Central Point, Roseburg and Junction City. He also worked for Gosline Jewelers in Roseburg for several years. He retired in 2002 after 57 continuous years of watch repair.

He is survived by his son, Gary Kopperud and daughter-in-law, Bev, of Pendleton; four sisters; a brother; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.
