HERMISTON - Ethel Kathleen Patterson, 87, of Hermiston, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at her home.

Private inurnment will be at Salmon, Idaho.

Mrs. Patterson was born April 28, 1917, at Union. She was raised on a ranch outside of Union and graduated from Union High School in 1934.

She married Harry C. "Pat" Patterson in 1951 at Walla Walla. They lived in Baker and Sumpter Valley before moving to Hermiston in 1966.

They were both horse lovers and licensed horse trainers who raced horses from 1955 to 1960. They started K-Pat Saddle Shop in 1970 in Hermiston and operated it until 2002.

Mrs. Patterson made western shirts in her early years and fine handcrafted leatherwork throughout her life. She made saddles, belts, wallets, chaps, purses, as well as numerous other items. She enjoyed horses and continued to ride until her death.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Broyles of Fairplay, Mo., as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat, in 2004, by her parents, by a son, Don, by a daughter, Leona, and by two sisters.
