MILTON-FREEWATER - A memorial service for George "Elmer" Swanson, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1113 Lamb St., Milton-Freewater.

Mr. Swanson, 91, of Milton-Freewater, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 23, 1910, at Homestead, Minn., to William A. and Clara Gladen Swanson.

On July 26, 1939, he married Helen Lenora Paulson at Bemidji, Minn.

During World War II, Mr. Swanson worked as a welder in a shipyard at Everett, Wash. After the war, in 1945, he moved to Bemidji, where he went into the heavy construction business.

After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Swanson moved to Milton-Freewater in 1968.

For many years, Mr. Swanson served in the Milton-Freewater Congregational of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, at the home; brothers, Arthur Swanson of Cass Lake, Minn., and Vernie Swanson of Duluth, Minn.; sisters, Clarice Sunde of Bemidji, Minn., and Eunice Heglund in Florida.

Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater, is in charge of arrangements.
