ATHENA - A graveside service for George Gilbert Pambrun will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Athena Cemetery with Wildhorse Lodge 65 A.F.&A.M. officiating.
Mr. Pambrun, 94, of Federal Way, Wash., an Athena native who grew up on the family farm south of Athena, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 28, 1909, on the family farm south of Athena, to Samuel and Mary Normandin Pambrun. He attended grade school at Athena and graduated from Athena High School on May 11, 1928. He worked on the family farm until 1936.
On January 18, 1936 he married Margret Ellen Isitt at Walla Walla and that year began working for P.J. Burke and Rogers Canning Company. He moved to Waitsburg, Wash. in 1948 and took a job with Green Giant Company, where he became superintendent. In 1962 he moved to Milton-Freewater where he was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Lamb-Weston, Inc., until his retirement in November 1974.
After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Pambrun lived at Florence and Eugene before settling at Junction City in 1988. They moved to the Oak Tree Residential Living Center at Eugene, in August 2001 and later moved to Federal Way where they were residents of Hallmark Manor.
Mr. Pambrun was a member of Wildhorse Lodge 65 A.F.&A.M. in Athena, Oregon.
Survivors include his wife, Margret Pambrun, at the home; daughter, Patty Sasaki of Federal Way; granddaughters, Sheri Breshears of Renton, Wash., Carleen Belton of Naches, Wash., and Lisa McEwen of Springfield, Ore., seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Sandra Bowman, his parents, brothers, Cecil, Alfred and Fay, and sisters, Angie Haverland, Ellen Wilson, Sadie Stinemates and Belle Weimer.
