PENDLETON - Former librarian Helen Doris Johnson died Jan. 20, 2007, in Pendleton.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in Lake Mary Ronan, Mont.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 7, 1924, in La Grande, to Aldon and Amanda Hagen Parsons. After graduation, she attended Eastern Oregon College.

During World War II, she met and married William E. Johnson, on July 22, 1944, in San Antonio. They moved to Milton-Freewater and then to Walla Walla in 1950.

Mrs. Johnson worked for many years as a librarian at the Walla Walla City Library.

In 2002, she moved from Walla Walla to McKay Creek Estates in Pendleton and then to Suttle Care.

Mrs. Johnson loved to read, fish, and spend time with family and friends.

She is survived by sons Tom Johnson of Vancouver, Wash., and Dr. Robert Johnson of Pendleton; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997.

Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
