MILTON-FREEWATER - James E. "Jim" Nibler, 75, of Milton-Freewater, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at his home.

Recitation of the rosary for Mr. Nibler was Sunday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home in Walla Walla. Funeral Mass was 2 p.m. today, April 25, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walla Walla with burial in the East Garden at Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Nibler was born Feb. 6, 1930, at Walla Walla to Mervin and Lillian Hancock Nibler.

He graduated from Umapine High School in 1948 and earned an education degree specializing in social studies and Spanish from the University of Portland.

He served with the Army Canine Corps during the Korean War, then began his teaching career at Weston-McEwen High School. He also taught at David Douglas in Portland and Madras High School. He retired in 1989 and returned to Milton-Freewater.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Michael Flohr Council 766. He was a Sisters of Providence associate and an oblate of the Benedictines at Mount Angel.

Survivors include a sister Sharon Loosveldt of Kennewick; two nephews and a niece; a great-nephew, two great-nieces, and numerous cousins.

Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla is in charge of arrangements.
