FAIRVIEW - James Merle Rosentrater, 85, who was a pastor in Hermiston from 1962-1987, died on Oct. 20, 2007.

A memorial service wil be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church at the corner of SE 89th and SE Division St. in Portland.

Mr. Rosentrater was born on Sept. 9, 1922 in Tabor, Ill. In his early years after high school he was an electrician for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He graduated from Colorado Springs Bible College, earning a bachelor's degree in religion and theology. Mr. Rosentrater pastored in Pueblo, Colo., Southwick, Idaho, Hermiston from 1962-1987, and from 1987-1993 at Westwood Wesleylan Church in Seattle. He had lived in the Portland area since 1993.

He is survived by three sons, Kenneth James and daughter-in-law Annette of Anchorage, Alaska; Keith John and daughter-in-law Ginny of Salem; Karl Joseph and daughter-in-law Eun Joo of Beaverton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
