HERMISTON - Joe Liles Martin, 75, a former municipal court judge for Echo, Stanfield and Umatilla, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at his home.

A graveside gathering for Mr. Martin will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Prairie Creek Cemetery in Joseph.

Mr. Martin was born Dec. 30, 1928, at Dallas, Texas.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a longtime resident of Echo and moved to Hermiston this last year.

He was a former municipal court judge for Echo, Stanfield, and Umatilla for several years.

Mr. Martin was a member of the Elks Lodge, Stanfield Moose Lodge, and Eagles Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Martin in 2000.

Survivors include his son, Michael John Martin of Irrigon; daughter, Toni Jo Martin of Tacoma, Wash.; brother, John Michael Vines in Texas; sisters, Pamela Holand and Jenny Bern Jones both in Texas; a grandson, Christopher James Martin; and one great grandchild.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
